Est. 1971 · Nursery & Primary

Nursery and primary in Surulere, where curiosity is celebrated and confidence is built.

At Victoria Children's School, every day is structured, joyful and confidence-building. For fifty-five years we have been a nurturing home for the earliest years of learning, from creche to Primary 6, and the first step towards our sister school, Victoria High School.

Let us celebrate the past, consolidate the present, and conquer the future.

Victoria Children’s School opened in 1971 with a handful of pupils and a conviction I believe was given to me by divine inspiration, and in 2001 Victoria High School grew from that same conviction. Fifty-five years on for the one, and twenty-five for the other, it has not changed: give a child sound character, a rigorous education and a reason to believe in themselves, and they will hold their own anywhere in the world.

From our first classroom on Rafiu Baruwa Street to the school you see today, Victoria Children’s School has been a reference point for primary education in Ijeshatedo, across Surulere and beyond. Our pupils sit every external examination open to them, and their results have been consistently excellent.

Our people

The teachers are the school.

Everything else a school can buy, from a laboratory to a coding room to a set of instruments, is only worth what the person standing in front of the class can do with it. Ours are qualified, long-serving, and still learning.

Victoria shaped my daughter into a confident young woman. The teachers know her, encourage her, and hold her to a standard we deeply respect.

From the moment we toured the campus, we knew. It is rare to find a school this warm, this safe, and this serious about learning.

Still have a question? Talk to us
What ages do you take?

From creche at eighteen months through to Primary 6. Nursery begins at age three, and Primary 1 at around age six.

How many children are in a class?

Classes are kept small, so that every child is known by name and reads aloud to a teacher every week.

What are the school hours?

Nursery runs from 8:00am to 1:00pm and Primary from 8:00am to 2:30pm, with supervised after-school care until 4:00pm.

Do you provide meals?

Yes. A cooked lunch is served every day in the cafeteria, and the week’s menu is shared with parents in advance.
